Inspiration
What makes an artist work “good” ? After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?…its all a matter of personal preference. To me, it all comes down to style, or more specifically, consistency of style. I one heard Tim Walden say, “I don’t so much care that everyone likes what I do, but I do care, that people know what I do.” That stuck with me.
I respect artists that have a recognizable style, whether it be fine arts, music or design. I feel like you’ve made it, when people know your work, without your name attached. How do you develop your style? Find others whose work inspires you, and not copy it, but savor it. Put all the things you love in a pot, stir it up, and see what comes out.
I love shooting newborns and babies! This is a really big trend in photography now. Carrie Sandoval and Brittany Woodall, owners of the studio, Baby As Art, are trendsetters, and are one of my favorite inspirations. There are many newborn photographers out there, but I love the simplicity of their style. You can find their site HERE, they are definitely worth sharing.
