I was a single mom of a little girl, and the membership director at our local Chamber of Commerce. I was living paycheck to paycheck (barely). I also had a creative itch that I couldn't quite scratch. I was attending a ribbon cutting at a new wedding shop one day and had a light bulb moment - I could be a wedding photographer?! The next thing you know I marched into a camera store, asked them to set me up with what they thought I needed then booked my first wedding for $150.00. Hallelujah! That was grocery money. Was I prepared? No. Did I know what I was doing? Nope. (I warned the couple that I was a beginner, and they were willing to take the chance. ( I wouldn’t suggest this route). It was all on a wing and a prayer…

A year later I had an amazing business partner, Josh Moates, (the name "Kim Box Photography" had stuck by then so we kept it) and I was a full-time photographer. Twenty years later, Josh and I have three photography divisions, a team of associate photographers (that I love dearly), Indie Film lab and Indie Print Co. We employ almost 20 folks/friends! I’m also one of the founders over at The Motherhood Anthology, and so proud to be a part of that great community providing education for motherhood photographers.

I say all that to say... If we can do it, you can too!

I currently live in Alabama, have 3 sweet kiddos in all phases of life... 10, 18 and 27. I most recently became a new “Honey” to baby Emery. I have a sweet fireman hubby, who is all of our support system. Today, I still shoot a handful of weddings and children. I LOVE grainy black and white photography. My style is simple and genuine.

Im a dreamer.

I was blessed to have a sweet daddy convinced me that I could do almost anything if I wanted it enough. Id love to hear about your dreams too. Shoot me an email and say hello!
